STONES & ROSES
THE FEBRUARY 2008 NEWSLETTER
Its been a while - three or four months? - since the last newsletter. Where did that time go?
I've tried keeping people informed of the drumming circles by emails but there are some other things coming up and the newsletter is the best way to send out the information.

SUMMIN' UP DRUMMIN'
A CHART OF ALL THE LOCAL DRUMMING CIRCLES

The best way to sum up all of the drumming circles that I know about is with the chart that is on this webpage...
www.pennywearne.com/drummin.htm

If you know of any other open drum circles would like to be included on this page (or if I've made some date/time/location errors - highly unlikely but possible) please let me know.

A DAY FOR WOMEN
SUNDAY, MAY 4TH, 2008

This is our 4th annual DAY FOR WOMEN and Nancy and I are all pumped up about it!!!
We're all ready with our presenters and the caterers and we've got a day prepared for you that is different from anything else we've done. We'll be back at The Willows Golf & Country Club in Nilestown. The staff did such a nice job last year and the setting is so beautiful that we are heading back there for another great day.

The morning will be a workshop format, led by Sue Minns: "Lions, Tigers & Bears!" Sue will present a hilarious, thought-provoking session that will share accounts of her diagnosis of MS, breast cancer, job loss, and a family house fire, and how she chooses to meet trials head on. She will leave you with a fresh vision and new tools for surviving and thriving through life's little annoyances and big obstacles.
We'll have a great lunch followed by an afternoon presentation by "My Sister's Place" entitled "Living On The Edge". These courageous ladies will offer their stories that will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you think.

I'll be sending out the poster with all of the information about the day very soon. But you might want to round up your friends and family soon. Tickets are $50/person and include morning muffins, coffee, tea, lunch, morning workshop, an afternoon play, and a stone rose ... a great day that we hope will leave you inspired for another year.
Since I'm in Texas for Feb. and Nancy's in Florida for Feb. we thought you should contact me by email to reserve your tickets and arrange for payment. In March and April you'll be able to call us and we'll talk to you in person.

JOURNEY THROUGH GRIEF

Wise Woman Events is hosting a "Journey Through Grief" Weekend March 8 & 9, 2008.
Go to their website www.wisewomanevents.com to find further information, and the registration form.
There will be a Sonic Dreams evening as part of that weekend and I have learned that you may attend that event even if you do not plan to attend the whole Grief Workshop. Contact Elizabeth Runciman about the Sonic Dreams ($25.00 per person).

SONIC MEDICINE

Jocelyn Drainie (one of my drumming friends and a members of the Rhythm Sisters) is conducting monthly Sonic Medicine events at The Lotus Centre. I've attended most of them and am a committed Sonic Medicine 'groupie'. There are no words to describe a Sonic Medicine evening... you really have to be brave enough to attend with an open mind and heart.

The next Sonic Medicine Event is scheduled for February 29, 2008.
RSVP is required as space is limited.

Go to Jocelyn's website for more information.

I know its reeeeally early to start thinking about croozin' around in olde cars but some folks need to mark the dates on their calendars so... here is the website with all of the information for the
THIRD ANNUAL CRUIZIN' FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS

Nancy's son and daughter-in-law are very involved with this very successful fund-raiser. If you have a shiny olde car or a shiny new car you need to be part of this event. I rode along last year in our '72 Monte Carlo (pictured below at Plunkett's Estate - end location of the CF Cruize) and had a really fun day... which surprised me because horsepower doesn't usually do a thing for me.... horses yes, horsepower no.

Now ... if you've made it all the way to the bottom of this newsletter you deserve this little smile.
(thanks for sending this my way, Fran)

Enjoy February... Penny
