STONES & ROSES
THE MAY-ALMOST-JUNE 2007 NEWSLETTER

Life has been a little hectic this spring so this newsletter will combine some May and June info about Drumming (of course) and Laughter Yoga and the London Irish Folk Club and and Pizza Oil.

SMILE! SMILE! SMILE! SMILE! SMILE!
The 2007 STONES & ROSES - A Day for Women was a great day!!!
A room full of 85 women interacting, laughing and dancing was a sight to behold. I think we shook up the golfers somewhat.
Thank you all for your support... after we paid the bills we had $400.00 for Cystic Fibrosis.
Nancy and I are already talking about next year... if you've got some ideas of speakers, entertainment, or activities send us an email.
We'll consider them over a glass of wine.

We're meeting this month at Spirit of the Earth, The Living Center, just south of Lambeth (directions below). This is a beautiful space with the capability of hosting us outside around a fire if it's nice out, or indoors in a wonderful lodge if the weather is cool.
As always, the cost is $10 or pay what you can, and we have extra drums to borrow.
If you will need a ride, let me know and I'll forward your request to the group to see who might be able to help you out.
I'm really looking forward to seeing you all again!

A New Community Drum Circle is starting up ... read on.

Third Thursdays
May - September
7 - 9 pm

Here's a new summer drumcircle starting the third Thursday of the month -- May 17 -- and continuing through into September.
The location is in Hyde Park at Heather Boyce's Gifts of Abundance location (1553 Hyde Park Road -- almost at the corner of Gainsborough).
We're drumming from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (or so) and we will be outdoors.
Shelter will be provided if necessary for rain or bugs, but a chair or blanket will be needed.
The structure is going to be fairly informal so we will create the space and then let the groove take us where it will.
The cost is $5.00
All drums and instruments are welcome.
All genders are welcome - no drumming experience is required.

For more information, contact Heather (519) 657-7652 or Jan at (519) 951-1859 janpennycook.ue@rogers.com

Now you know I went to Ireland last year and came back with a bodhran and wanted to learn to play it ...
and you probably know by now that I haven't learned to play it well at all.
So when I got an email from Jack Barnes about the upcoming Irish Folk Club workshop my hopes were raised.

Oil Drizzled Pizza
When we were in Stoney Creek a few weeks ago, we were treated to this little appetizer at Jim & Barb's house...

Frozen pizza... the no-name deluxe kind... cooked as per directions on the box... drizzled with this oil that Jim created a few days prior:

These are Jim's words about how to create the infused olive oil:
2 cups of virgin olive oil (tried 10W30 and not so good)
3 -4 cloves of garlic chopped
dried rosemary, crumbled - a tsp or so
red pepper flakes...how hot do you like it??
It's best infused for a few days. When it's done add the dregs to a spaghetti sauce...mmmm
I don't think there was anything else, but I normally look in the spice drawer and say "maybe I'll try this".

Thanks, Jim & Barb.

Here's to drummin' and dancin' and laughin' and good pizza!
